This was only the 3rd time in meet history where both the boys and girls team champions (Poolesville boys / Wootton girls) were first time champions. Churchill boys/girls swept the first scored meet in 1978. In 1984, the Whitman girls and Rockville boys won for the first time. That's it, thanks to so many repeat champions. Whitman, Walter Johnson, and Churchill comprise 63% of all cross country team county champions since 1977.

Wootton joined Northwest and Churchill as the only schools to have ever won Montgomery County titles in girls cross country, girls indoor track, and girls outdoor track. Schools to accomplish the feat in boys cross country, boys indoor track, and boys outdoor track are Northwest, Churchill, Gaithersburg, Quince Orchard, and Walter Johnson. The WJ boys are the most recent school to join the club after winning their first outdoor track county title last spring.

Wootton High School won its first girls MCPS XC Championship. Wootton finished runner-up in 3 of the last 5 MCPS XC Championship Meets, but never won until today. Wootton's 53 points was its lowest score in meet history. It was just 8 points higher than the lowest girls team score recorded in the era of 25 high schools (45, Whitman 2010).

Poolesville High School boys won its first MCPS XC champions. Poolesville's boys had never finished higher than 7th in the history of the MCPS Championship Meet before today. Poolesville's 84 points was its lowest score in meet history.

The Springbrook boys 4th place finish was its best since 1987 (3rd). Springbrook's point total of 144 points was the lowest point total by a Springbrook boys team since it scored 133 points in 1987. Springbrook boys have strung together three consecutive top ten county championship finishes after a 20 year drought of top ten finishes.

Bethesda Chevy Chase High School's Varri Higgins repeated as MCPS champion in 18:39. She is the tenth all-time repeat female MCPS XC champ and just a junior. While Higgins' time was 28 seconds slower than last year, she still recorded the new #14 performance in course history (last year she ran 18:11 for #7 on the all-time course list).

Katie Greenwald from Whitman (18:48), Daisy Dastrup from Poolesville (18:50), and Grace Finnegan from Richard Montgomery (18:51) recorded the new #21, #24, and #25 performances in meet history.

Richard Montgomery High School's Noah Fisher won the individual MCPS XC title in 16:06. RMHS boys have won 4 out of the last 7 individual MCPS titles. Fisher's time was just the #42 time in course history and the slowest winning time since the course was created in 2011.

The Wootton boys had a 24 second top-5 spread. The Churchill boys had a 34 second top-5 spread. The Einstein girls had a 31 second top-5 spread.

Daisy Dastrup's second place finish tied the highest finish in meet history by a Poolesville girl.

Joshua Lopez was the first all-county (top ten) finisher from Magruder since 2010.

The Wootton girls team maintained an active streak of finishing in the top ten at the county championship meet for twenty consecutive meets.
The Whitman girls team (2nd) maintained an active streak of finishing in the top ten at the county championship meet in every meet since at least 1981.
The B-CC girls team maintained an active streak of finishing in the top ten at the county championship meet for fifteen consecutive meets.
The Wootton boys team maintained an active streak of top ten finishes dating back to 2009, the longest active streak among county boys teams.

The Richard Montgomery girls' team third place finish matched its highest team finish in meet history. RM girls have finished 3rd five times in meet history.
