Division I

Last week, the Quince Orchard girls took down Clarksburg which almost guarantees that there will be a new division winner this year. QO will see Springbrook for the second time this season but this time at Poolesville. The closest match up will probably be the rematch between the QO and speedy Springbrook boys. Last week's score was 76 to 61.

Division II

The Northwest girls are as deep as advertised. Last week they beat Magruder handily without star runner Britt Eckerstrom. In their only home meet of the season, Eckerstrom should return. Don't expect Northwest to hold back against Paint Branch and Einstein this week.

On the other hand, the boys' matchup is the most difficult to predict this week. The Northwest boys struggled against Magruder while Einstein pulled off a victory over Damascus. Paint Branch has its strengths and weaknesses and a jumper in Tyler Nelson that can match Northwest's Sheldon Trotman. I predict three close scores, but Northwest boys will get two wins at home.

Division III

After having last week's meet postponed due to weather, Churchill will debut at home against Blair and B-CC. The boys are the defending indoor county champions and should come away with two wins.

The B-CC girls have a strong distance core and a nice weapon in Brittney Wade who is trying out all kinds of different events in her sophomore year. I expect the B-CC girls to remain undefeated while the Northwood girls do the same against Gaithersburg.

Division IV

The Whitman and WJ girls both suffered losses last week while Kennedy will make its first appearance of the season this week. Thea LaFond usually generates an automatic 40 points for Kennedy, but we will have to see if some of the other athletes can step up and compete with the distance-heavy Whitman and WJ squads.

The WJ boys are undefeated after a matchup with Blake and Wootton last week, but Kennedy will be a formiddable opponent. The advantage in the distance events clearly tilts in WJ's favor, but Kemol Anderson and the Kennedy sprinters and hurdlers are going to rack up some points.
